Award Response in Poetic Form

Sioux, over at http://siouxspage.blogspot.com/
bestowed on several bloggers an award, "Stylish Blogger Award". In response to this award, the awardees have to give seven facts about themselves. My name happens to have seven letters. So in keeping with my poetry theme for April, I have the seven things about me in the form of an acrostic poem. Thank you, Sioux, for this award.

Blooms where I'm planted. (New Jersey, North Carolina, Virginia, Missouri)
Attends church regularly, participating in many activities.
Realizes my blessings each day, taking nothing for granted.
Buys colorful postage stamps for my snail mail.
Always enjoys meeting new people.
Reads mostly non-fiction with an occasional mystery thrown in.
Aspires to encourage others with my writing.

  2. I did not know you mostly read nonfiction...We'll have to talk. I'd love to pick your brain about your favorites!

  3. I enjoy your non-rhyming poetry more than the rhyming, Barb.

I'm with you on the non-fiction, but not so much for mystery.

In fiction, I do like a good post apocalyptic tale. Old classics like On the Beach, Earth Abides, Alas Babylon.

I also enjoy Oprah's early book club picks, like House of Sand and Fog, A Map of the World, Mother of Pearl, Plainsong, Icy Sparks, Drowning Ruth, White Oleander, River Cross My Heart, The Deep End of the Ocean, The Road, Where the Heart Is. This list makes me want to dig them out and read them over again.

  5. Whoops -- I'm too late -- I also gave you the same award on my blog! I didn't notice that Sioux gave it to both of us. By the way, I also gave you the Versatile Bloggers Award. No obligations whatsoever if you're too busy! But if you want to accept it, just link it back to this post and consider yourself done!
