If You're Not From Lawrenceville, New Jersey
If you're not from Lawrenceville, you don't know about the prep school where all the graduates are expected to attend Ivy League universities.
If you're not from Lawrenceville, you don't know about the duck pond on the prep school's campus, where the neighborhood kids would ice skate during the winter and fish during the summer.
If you're not from Lawrenceville, you don't know that the Ivy League school, Princeton University, is only 15 minutes away when you drive north.
If you're not from Lawrenceville, you don't know that the capital city, Trenton, is only 15 minutes away, when you drive south.
If you're not from Lawrenceville, you don't know that the prep school was only for boys many years ago; now it's co-ed.
If you're not from Lawrenceville, you don't know about the elementary school where generations of families sent their children, where you were with the same kids from kindergarten through sixth grade.
If you're not from Lawrenceville, you don't know how the phrase, "It takes a village" is so true. Lawrenceville was indeed considered that village.
If you're not from Lawrenceville, you must visit it sometime in your life.

  1. My cousins live in Robbinsville, not too far from Princeton. I drove through once--quite a quaint college town.

I'd love to hear more about Lawrenceville...I think you've only scratched the surface and--I suspect---there is probably lots more in-depth things you could tell us.

  2. Are YOU from Lawrenceville? And if so, how'd you get to where you are NOW?

There's a LOT I don't know about Lawrenceville! But I sure know more NOW than I knew a minute ago :)

  3. Hi Barb...Did you ever get my comment for the "I'm From" post? I'm sure I sent it but it never appeared. Just curious.

Thanks for all your poetry postings! Refreshing. Susan
